Asbestos Removal
In good condition, most products made from or containing asbestos will be perfectly safe and will not need to be removed.
Asbestos was used in construction because of it’s high tensile strength, insulating qualities and fire resistance. In many cases where it was installed, it continues to do it’s job perfectly well.
However, there are some cases where it should definitely be removed.
This photograph shows a fire door that was in a common area with quite high volumes of traffic.
The door is faced with painted asbestos insulation board (AIB) which is clearly damaged.
Because of the location of the door and the fact that it is damaged, the door has to be removed, as it presents a risk to heath due to the fact that asbestos fibres can easily be released when the door is moved.
The removal of asbestos can only be carried out by licensed contractors and disposed of in properly licensed disposal facilities.
The costs of removal can be high, but quotations do vary.
Asbestos Removal Contractors
If you need asbestos removing from your premises, it is essential that it is carried out by properly licensed contractors.
However, just because a contractor is licensed, it does not mean that their advice is impartial and that is where we can help.
As qualified asbestos surveyors, we are bound by rules which state that our advice has to be impartial and independent.
Do You Really Need To Remove Asbestos?
Just because you have asbestos in the premises, it does not necessarily mean that you should get it removed – a number of cheaper solutions could be available to you that a removal contractor might not tell you about.
Not all asbestos requires licensed removal and the different types of asbestos can be treated differently.
A short site visit, provided free of charge, or as part of a normal asbestos survey, will allow us to advise you on the correct and most cost effective course of action.
If we manage your removal project, look what we provide as standard:
