Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations, you are required to have an asbestos management plan in operation. This takes the form of an asbestos register, which has to be undertaken by a competent person.
The definition of competence in this respect changed in 2010, when the HSE’s guidance notes HSG 264 superceded the old MDHS100 standard, to state that in addition to a recognised qualification, the asbestos surveyor must also have completed at least 6 asbestos surveys.
